  7. Automated Replenishment software is designed for wholesale/distribution and
  8. retail purchasing.  To determine whether a product is ordered, and in what
  9. quantity, the software utilizes a number of sophisticated techniques.  These
  10. include linear regression, weighted average, seasonality smoothing,
  11. incremental service level adjustments, and margin smoothing.  The software
  12. factors in lead times and vendor order schedules and recognizes which products
  13. are equivalent.  Products which do not have enough sales volume to utilize the
  14. techniques described must continue to be ordered.  In these cases a minimum
  15. sale table manages the ordering process.  Because of potential unusual spikes
  16. in demand, Auto-Star has created the Emergency Order.  In this procedure,
  17. products are examined each night to see whether daily sales have created a
  18. situation where there is danger of running out before the product is scheduled
  19. to be ordered again.
